Help with odd USAF shaped patch

I posted this in the 'can you identify' section, but wanted to try here too. Obviously, this patch has something to do with the 42nd Division - maybe 3rd Brigade? But it clearly has a USAF patch shape. I have never seen anything like it before and thought maybe the AF patch experts might have run across it. Any help with a definite ID would be appreciated.
