Salvage Sailor Posted February 5, 2023 #1 Posted February 5, 2023 Aloha Everyone, In sorting out a Marine photography archive I've come across several photos of either USMC Drummers or PFC's at Marine Barracks Pearl Harbor in 1924, 1925 & 1926. When looking up the dates of the Drummer insignia, I came across this info. Link --> Old USMC Rank Enlisted rank insignia 1912-1917 Rank description "Private" has no rank insignia 1. Corporal 2. Sergeant 3. Gunnery Sergeant 4. First Sergeant 5. Quartermaster Sergeant 6. Pay Quartermaster Sergeant 7. Drum Major 8. Sergeant Major Enlisted rank insignia 1917-1922 Rank description "Private" has no rank insignia 1. Private First Class (since 1917) 2. Corporal 3. Sergeant 4. Gunnery Sergeant 5. First Sergeant 6. Quartermaster Sergeant 7. Pay Quartermaster Sergeant 8. Drum Major 9. Sergeant Major Enlisted rank insignia 1922-1929 Rank description "Private" has no rank insignia 1. Private First Class ** 2. These USMC photos are clearly dated and identified from the 1924-1926 period

Btw great series of pictures! Quite possible with the resolution on these old prints. This photograph does look more like thicker rifles rather than drum sticks
Salvage Sailor Posted February 6, 2023 Author #10 Posted February 6, 2023 I cranked the resolution way up on this photo, it is an early USMC PFC rank worn in 1925 USMC PRIVATE FIRST CLASS (1925 Maneuvers) Marine Barracks Pearl Harbor
