What kind of shell was inside of This Ammo Can? Mortar or artillery?

once again question about the shell who was inside for which weapon

I have the same case, and Mr Mortar told me it was for 81mm rounds.

why is than written on the case 3 inch mk1a2

Any Ammunition Identification Code (AIC) that starts with "R4XXX" is for Mortar Ammunition.  This container looks like the AIC is "R4FCN" which would indicate 81mm.
