Guys, is my understanding of these three rank patches correct?  Top is the early full color type, center is the later subdued type worn from the late 60s through the BDU era.  What puzzles me is the orangish color of the bottom set.  Are they a variation of the former or latter?  Thank you!

The bottom ones are probably Repros, as the backing looks like Ribbed Poly Blend, that's the material used as a backing on the center set, the Subdued Brown bars, ones that start to be seen in say 1977-78, and used till the end of the BDU era.

True Full Collar Collar ranks and Branch of Service for Officers from the 50s to late-sh 60s will be embroidered on OD HBT  and the standard, OG Cotton Sateen. And when the Army introduces the Subdued stuff, like CIBs, Officer collar stuff, later EM collar stuff etc etc it too will be embroidered on OG Cotton Sateen.

Thank you!  So, my timing was off on the first too.  The bottom one came straight from a sewing shop as new old stock.  Definitely not recent repro.  Possibly an old private purchase "mistake"....

Don't know, really would have to have it in hand to tell, to me it looks Repro, a full color repro.

Check out this site, Full Color Cloth Ranks and Branch of Service, as you'll see they are mostly repros.
