USMC_COLLECTOR Posted January 31, 2023 #1 Posted January 31, 2023 Is this a mustang survival vest? Stamped B.F Goodrich and dated 1960...
RWW Posted January 31, 2023 #2 Posted January 31, 2023 Mustang is the name of a company that makes inflatable gear for both the military and civilian market. Your picture is a Navy Pouch Type Life Preserver, regardless of the manufacturer. The manual states: "The Pouch Type Life Preserver Assemblies are authorized for use by all troop passengers on Marine Corps helicopters."

RWW Posted January 31, 2023 #4 Posted January 31, 2023 I can't say they were never used by seals. They were also used on ships by personnel in confined spaces and where wearing the larger kapok life preservers was impractical.
m4s88 Posted November 22, 2024 #6 Posted November 22, 2024 I would think there were not used by seals. Never say never but not common enough to put in a seal display or mannequin
