This One Time...

One of the leg companies (A, B or D) of 1st Bn. 60th Infantry, 172nd Infantry Brigade, during the brigade's ~3 year period with khaki berets. Sometimes you just want to do something off the beaten path.

If anyone has any thoughts, I'd love to hear them.

A few kit notes, for those who care.

- Full uniform: Undershirt + Drawers, Long, M1950, worn under Shirt + Pants, Wool, Field, OG-108, worn under Parka, M1965 and Pants, Field, M1965, worn under Parka + Pants, Snow Camouflage, M1965

- Everything is original except for the rifle, rope and beret. The beret started out in life as a new-production beret for the British Mercian Regiment, which just so happened to be of a near-identical color. The flash is a reproduction.

- The snowshoes ARE Army issue, though Korea-dated. I haven't been able to acquire a pair of proper metal snowshoes, so those are currently standing in.

- The Insulated Combat Boots/Mickey Mouse boots are also stand-ins; the later, white, Type III boots should really be worn here, as they seem to have completely replaced the black Type I/II boots by the 1970s. Unfortunately, I've only been able to find those in sizes below 9 or above 13. The black boots actually fit, so they stay for now.

Me 4/9th July 81-Dec 82 Wainwright, you do need VB Boots as you mentioned, the Black Micky Mouse boots were not an issue item.

Is your Ruck an Artic one, like mine?

Hello, This one Time...

Not sure if this is what your looking for, The first 3 pictures are from a surplus store I frequent. The second 2 are from an antique store close to my house. I will look into them if you want but since I live in Washington state and your in Ohio the shipping might be high. PM me if your interested.

Great impression by the way.

My apologies for not replying sooner. Just didn't have a chance until now.

That was actually something I forgot to mention in the little section of issues: my pack in those pictures is an LC-1 Medium instead of a proper large or arctic ruck. I managed to rectify that issue while I was gone, though, and found a good LC-1 Large pack at a surplus store.

We painted these Red and Yellow on the rear stem, unit making of sorts.

Here's a set, says vintage, they do look like the ones we used. Not sure if these were dated, they might of been but back then I wasn't up on looking for Nomenclature marking on my items.

I'd also like to thank you both for the offers on the snow shoes, but I managed to acquire a pair of those as well while I was away. I do greatly appreciate the offers, though.

A few pictures from a while back I forgot to post, showing the updated pack + snowshoes and what's under the snowsuit. Bindings need replaced on the snowshoes still, to be white instead of black, but I'm pretty happy with how things have turned out so far.
