Usmc2004 Posted January 27, 2023 #1 Posted January 27, 2023 Has anybody seen something like this before? Picked it up from the antique store down the road. It is very poorly made almost seems like it is 3 layers put together and was obviously embellished with the crossed pistols. Has some sort of Asian proof stamp on the back. It was tagged “Flying Tigers MP”. It was super cheap so I just grabbed it out of curiosity. Measures 3” and is very soft, scratches very easily.
rathbonemuseum.com Posted January 27, 2023 #2 Posted January 27, 2023 Hello. I will try and give some input on your wing. From photographic appearance, it is similar to other Chinese made pilot wings, both in terms of pattern and the maker chops on the back. It is also similar in style and construction to know custom Chinese wings made for the 843rd AAA battalion that decided to make an insignia to represent their unique "air-mobile anti-aircraft" unit purpose. The difference being those wings incorporated a coastal artillery insignia as the device attached to the shield. Your wing has the crossed pistols for military police. I have not seen that combination before. I am speculating here but a similarly enterprising group of air base security folks could have made up their own custom version. But I have never seen another. You can look at examples of the 843rd examples below:
Usmc2004 Posted January 28, 2023 Author #3 Posted January 28, 2023 Thanks for Information and the links, That is a huge help I had been searching Asian made pilot wings, Chinese made yields much more for results.
