Chariots of Fire

This Jeep MB was built from the Italeri Fire Jeep kit.  I made some modifications along the way including a soft top, hinging the hood and adding the radio and GI gas can to the rear.  Not sure if Red Ball Express Jeeps use the Red Ball insignia.  Perhaps some of you can confirm either way.  If they did I will add one so that it can accompany the Diamond T wrecker.

Very nice! How did you make the hinge for the hood?

I cut away the plastic hinge and replaced it with a piece of small brass tubing.  Secured it with CA.  A piece of stiff stainless wire fits inside.  I made two small pieces of brass with holes large enough to insert the stiff wire in and put them in the cowl, gluing them in with CA and filler.  They were put in while on the stiff wire so that they would line up well with the hood and not bind when the hood was opened.  Wire was snipped off just shy of the brass in the cowl.

Your skills just amaze me!

Hi Chariots of fire,

As a Jeep owner, well done very nice conversion work from the boxed Fire Jeep to a standardised military Jeep, I enjoy viewing your work.
