Cote_1918 Posted January 27, 2023 Share #1 Posted January 27, 2023 I have a m1873 socket bayonet and scabbard that I recently bought. The scabbard is the type with the leather belt loop, my problem is that I see that these scabbards are supposed to have a U.S. stamp on the loop rivet but mine is smooth. Any ideas on why? I was thinking it could be a repair. Thanks.
CAC1901 Posted January 27, 2023 Share #2 Posted January 27, 2023 There are state guard or militia scabbards that essentially follow the regular army pattern but use a plain or smooth face button type swivel. This sounds like what you have without a picture.

These scabbards can also be found with state initials on the rivet.
