Sure wish those pockets on those blue flannel 1883 shirts didn't have pleats and flaps! Nice photos though.

This Castle, as the movie was done in Spain, it was specially built for the movie, just like the whole set of the city of Peking quite a job right.

"55 Days at Peking is a 1963 American movie starring Charlton Heston, Ava Gardner and David Niven. It dramatizes the siege of the Legation Quarter in Peking during the Boxer Rebellion in 1900. Due to Communist China’s hostility and its isolation from the Western world, a full-scale, admirably accurate replication of parts of old Peking, including sewers, was built in Spain on a compound of 240,000 square meters"

These are great pix Patches! Fun to see how Hollywood tried to approximate the correct look and where they came close or fell short…your photos show Charleston Heston’s prop field hat had holes for the EGA mounted in the front, but it looks like they then shifted the EGA to the side. Apart from that, the presence of an officers hat cord, and the funky vent holes, his hat is not bad when compared to known originals….and if you could look past the modern EGA. Here is a publicity still I have from the movie…
