Unusual WW1 Aviation Aircraft Bomb.

Unusual WW1 Aviation Aircraft Bomb, 48” long, I was told it was a gas bomb. Does anyone know what it is?

With limited research i have done on wwi bombs, I would think this is more likely and incendiary bomb, because I believe they were painted this color.   Normally the ones that I am familiar with (chanard, etc) have the fuze in the tail though but that does not mean anything.  Just what I have seen most often.  Good luck, hopefully the early ordnance guru's or aviation experts will chime in.
