Lt Alfred H. Bell (later Major)

Grouping consists of 2 uniforms, yard long from training (has all the names on back!) training log book and war time log book and Sterling bracelet.

I found him on the 2nd BG page and the Air Medal GO cards I found match up with the dates on that website. But he appears (according to his log book) to be C47 Navigator.

Maybe someone can add some more info?? Maybe he did other flying time after 1943? Maybe he turned to instruction duties?

The bullion patch uniform is his post-war jacket as it’s dated 1946. The other is dated 1941. They are both In great condition. And both are complete with shirts, tie, jackets, pants.

I believe he best parts in the yard long and log books!

And if anyone can find further info I would cherish that.

Thanks for looking!

You can see the flight destination areas are middle eastern…maybe this is more clues to what unit he was with?!

I also pulled his award cards but they only list 15th Air Force…no unit

Thanks for stopping by to look

I believe this is your guy.  Found this MACR which lists him as a witness to a crash and puts him in the 2nd BG, 96th squadron.  Between it and the article hopefully that fills in a few gaps.

Ahh, you are amazing.  You are truly an asset to the forum!  This helps tremendously

Still need to figure out all the C-47 work in the early 1943 - I'M guessing he switched over to combat flying? From transport duties....Have to do some more digging.

Thanks again!

Thanks.  I just enjoy the challenge.  Maybe someone else can find more.
