iron bender Posted January 22 Share #1 Posted January 22 Picked up this super example of Jenks and Son m1861 rifle musket today. At least the cleanest I've found of this type. Biggest contract of the war with appx 100k delivered beyond Springfield. Required removing nipple, bolster screw and a good cleaning to get it shooting ready. Very proud of my first pick up of 2023. M24 Chaffee Posted January 22 Share #5 Posted January 22 Congratulations! That’s a great looking Bridesburg! Nice to have the bayonet with it. It would be cool to see a video of when you shoot it. I wonder what the X carved in near the butt plate could mean? Nice markings all around! I used to live very close to where the Bridesburg factory was. If you’re interested I posted my Bridesburg here awhile ago. Mine is in a brown attic find condition. I have no plans to shoot it. Here’s a link- Regards, Frank

SARGE Posted January 22 Share #7 Posted January 22 A very nice, and not over-cleaned IMHO, Bridesburg. The edges are sharp and the wood to metal fit is tight from what I can see. Congratulations.
