Michael the Young AEF Guy Posted January 18, 2023 Share #1 Posted January 18, 2023 Hello everyone, happy to share the dog tags of George Waldo Pattee, a Sergeant in Company C of the 1st Divisional Ammunition Train, Horsed Section. George originally enlisted on November 27th, 1915, although he may have enlisted as early as 1907 from earlier records I've found. But he served along the Mexican border as part of Troop K of the 12th Cavalry during 1916 and 1917. George went overseas to France on August 13th, 1917, as a Sergeant in the 1st Ammo Train, Horsed Section. On June 7th, 1918, in Cantigny, France, George was awarded the Silver Star for courage and devotion to duty. He was awarded his second Silver Star on July 20th, 1918, for an act near Missy-aux-Bois. This came a day before he was severely wounded on July 21st. A newspaper article I've found shows that his wound was a small shell fragment on the inside of his left knee. From my own research I haven't been able to find the citations for Pattee's silver stars. If anyone has access to these records, I would appreciate seeing them! From my access to Fold3 and Ancestry, I haven't been able to find them. Thanks in advance for any help!
gearhead1968 Posted January 18, 2023 Share #2 Posted January 18, 2023 Very Nice! Thanks for sharing. As for the citation, you will probably have to ask one of the researchers in St. Louis like http://www.goldenarrowresearch.com/ they will be able to track that down for you most likely. AustinO Posted January 19, 2023 Share #4 Posted January 19, 2023 One citation star was for being wounded, here's the citation for the other. I couldn't find the third, but ocr might not have captured it - I'll take another look tomorrow. Just kidding, here's the other one:
AustinO Posted January 19, 2023 Share #5 Posted January 19, 2023 Here's the GO numbers for the citations. GO1 of 1920 was a list of men wounded in action, so he technically would have received 2 OLC.
