CavalryCombatant Posted January 14, 2023 #1 Posted January 14, 2023 Picked up this great little group shortly before the new year, and figured some of y’all may get a kick out of it. From the looks of it, I’m guessing the tapes are from an early production run, potentially trying to finalize a design for the groups. It seems these style of tapes were pretty common for missile squadrons stationed in Germany during the time, so I’m sure there’s other similar ones used by other groups. I’m guessing these tapes would’ve been made in Germany, but I’m not sure. There was also a carded NS Meyer Missileman’s badge, dated 1963, included in the group. Hope y’all find it interesting! CC
Randy Posted January 15, 2023 #2 Posted January 15, 2023 There were 3 groups in the 38th TMW. The 585th was at Bitburg AB, 586th at Hahn, and 587th at Sembach. They performed Mace tactical missile operations. These groups were all renumbered or inactivated by 1963, and the Mace was totally removed by 1966. Nice set, I would agree all were German made. Earlier tags were done in all sorts of colors depending on squadron affiliation. Randy
