otter42 Posted January 2, 2023 Share #1 Posted January 2, 2023 My dad gave this to me. He found the crashed plane and was able to pull this out. Not sure why all the damage to it. Maybe someone else trying to remove it or even my dad. My brother thought he got it in Egypt, but I thought dad said Poland or Italy. Found one like it in a Australian War Museum online. The one at the the Museum has very close serial numbers. They state that the s/n would make it a biplane cr.42. Dad was a merchant marine and passed away in 2009 from mesothelioma. Eagle's Nest Posted January 2, 2023 Share #2 Posted January 2, 2023 That is cool. Love the detail on the label. You should write your late father’s name and unit on there too. Cool piece!
otter42 Posted January 2, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted January 2, 2023 I did, it's on the flip side of the card. Thanks for the advice.
USCapturephotos Posted January 2, 2023 Share #4 Posted January 2, 2023 What a great artifact from the war and with your dad’s info. Love it! Seen some stocks from BF 109s and FW190s but never from an Italian aircraft. Paul
otter42 Posted January 2, 2023 Author Share #5 Posted January 2, 2023 Thanks! I've had it a long time, and sometimes just blends in, if you know what I mean. Ken Fiat CR.
