42eme BCP Posted December 28, 2022 Share #1 Posted December 28, 2022 Hello! I saw this patch online but didn't found much informations about this unit. This is the 449th Motor Transport Company. Thanks to the Army Order Of Battle ( 1919-1941), i know that the unit was in the XII corps in 1922 but it don't say anything about its past campaign in Europe. The web site which sell this patch indicate "french made" so i do belive that the 449th MTC was somewhere in France in 1918-1919. Does someone have any informations about this company ? Many thanks ! https://www.flyingtigerantiques.com/stunning-french-made-wwi-us-army-449th-motor-transport-co-mtc-shoulder-patch.html
jagjetta Posted January 19, 2023 Share #2 Posted January 19, 2023 My response is, in no way, an endorsement of this patch. I am only commenting that, to the best of my knowledge, there was no 449th MTC during 1917-1919. Numbered companies ran from 1st to 169th and 801st to 875th. 42eme BCP Posted January 19, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted January 19, 2023 Hello, Thank you for your answer. According to this genealogist website, there were a 449th company somewhere in France in 1918, so i don't know. The unit seems legit to me. https://accessgenealogy.com/north-carolina/walter-c-moffitt.htm The book "Westfield and the World War" from 1919 also list a soldier from this unit. It's probably a littly supply unit and nothing was ever written about those soldiers. https://archive.org/details/westfieldworldwa00west/page/6/mode/2up?q=449th Best regards, Maël
