otter42 Posted December 28, 2022 Share #1 Posted December 28, 2022 Hadn't seen this info before. Looks like GSA instead of DSA. Any thoughts? Thanks

otter42 Posted December 28, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted December 28, 2022 Thanks pwcosol that answered it for me. Appears to be made for the Forest Service or other Govt agency's and made in 1969.
ludwigh1980 Posted December 28, 2022 Share #4 Posted December 28, 2022 Yes, government issued to Forest Service, BLM, Department of the Interior. Not as desirable as a military ruck however it is still sought after as vintage style pack on places like ebay and etsy. Works great as a day pack. otter42 Posted December 29, 2022 Author Share #5 Posted December 29, 2022 Thanks so much. They were asking $25. For it, so I think I'll go back and pick it up. 🙂
spec6-spencer Posted December 29, 2022 Share #6 Posted December 29, 2022 It is often confused with the CISO backpack and offered as such. The CISO backpack has, for example, a map pocket on the back that the General Services Administration does not have. Still a bargain at $25 :)
otter42 Posted December 31, 2022 Author Share #7 Posted December 31, 2022 Okay went back and bought the pack, but here's the weird twist: I found a Made In Korea tag! So why the govt stamp inside and made in Korea tag?
spec6-spencer Posted January 2, 2023 Share #8 Posted January 2, 2023 There is no American manufacturer in the stamp. Maybe the GSA had it made by a South Korean manufacturer? Not sure if that was how it was done in 1969?
gwb123 Posted January 2, 2023 Share #9 Posted January 2, 2023 Made in Korea as the lowest bid on the contract, perhaps? Since it was not military there may not have been a requirement for it to have actually be made in the USA.
otter42 Posted January 2, 2023 Author Share #10 Posted January 2, 2023 That's a good thought also. Thanks, appreciate all your help. Ken
otter42 Posted August 1, 2023 Author Share #11 Posted August 1, 2023 Okay this is weird, found another one of these same packs, same numbers. Made in Korea tag cut off. But it's really nicely camo'd! Love the pattern, reminds me of German camo. This was found local also.
Recon3690 Posted March 17 Share #12 Posted March 17 1st one looks like a Vietnam CIDG Rucksack (not CISO Rucksack)
spec6-spencer Posted March 17 Share #13 Posted March 17 That's right, now that I'm reading it again myself, it should actually say CIDG 🫣
Recon3690 Posted March 17 Share #14 Posted March 17 What I was trying to say was there were both a CISO Rucksack and a CIDG Rucksack similar but different creatures S. Korea manufacture is also plausible because it was Vietnamese issue not US, made in America did not apply regardless of who paid for them.
