I have a 1916 copy of "Manual for Quartermasters" that is named. See the pictures.  Looking up the name online, I'm pretty sure I found the original owner's headstone.  What unit do them mean when they say "311 Supply Co OMC"?  I would guess it is attached to the 311th Infantry Regiment but I was not sure.  I wanted to run down some more info on Mr Carraher and his unit.  Thanks in advance!

Salvage Sailor

311th Supply Company, Quartermaster Corps, served in Belgium (Antwerp) & France 1918-1919

This unit was not assigned to the 311th Infantry Regiment (nor the 311th Supply Train, a different type of unit entirely)

All supply companies were considered part of the Quartermaster Corps, just as engineer units were part of the Corps of Engineers, infantry units were part of the Infantry Branch, etc.  Unfortunately, there's little documentation on the activities of individual supply companies

Traces of other members of the company online below

This is some great stuff!!  Thanks so much.

I would have understood it better to begin with if I have correctly read QMC instead of thinking it was OMC. It's alway interesting to put stuff like this together.
