This grouping came directly from the family and was all found in Allen B Beltz’s sea bag.
Allen used wax pen on all the items

His ship the PCS 1457 was instrumental in the pacific campaigns.

PCS-1457 supported the recapture of the Marianas, specifically Guam and Tinian landings with surveys before and after the invasion. 4](1] After the Marianas operations the ship conducted general surveys in the Pacific until February 1945 when she conducted pre invasion surveys at Iwo Jima followed by surveys as the island was being secured. 5]|1] Charts resulting from surveys were printed on board USS Sumner with a survey team from that ship erecting a reference navigational signal atop Mount Suribachi. [6]

On 20 March 1945, PCS-1457 was reclassified as a Hydrographic Survey Ship (AGS-10) and four days later was renamed John Blish." The survey vessel continued more routine survey work until the invasion of Okinawa where she again supported landings with hydrographic work.|1] The ship earned 4 battle stars for World War Il service."

Included in the sea bag was 2 Japanese helmets, one heavily combat used and named to a Japanese combat engineer for a machine gun team. One mint Japanese helmet, a flag, a whip, and a canteen.

I was able to keep 90% of the grouping together, I believe there was also a set of Tabi shoes.

Love to see the liners.

I just picked up a Japanese Army helmet recently with liner and chin strap but unfortunately no vet attribution.

Of course, here you go.
One is in excellent condition, the other heavily used with what is blood in the liner. That one is attributed and named to a combat engineer.

Super nice stuff you got there.

I haven’t had a chance to look mine over to see if anything is written in it.

Well done Dean. Very cool. I just got a Seabees sea bag and items as well. What a coincidence. I Wish Beltz kept his helmet though. Great time capsule you have here!
