U.S. Military Insignia Dies

Hi folks,

 

These dies are for sale on a New Zealand auction site. Are these common or rare? I've not seen them before. The seller is asking NZ$800 as the starting price, that's around US$500.

In the 1980's I knew a guy that went to the dump in central New York and came back with a trunk full of these dies and could not sell them at $5.00 each. He gave me two and I still have them somewhere.
