Retention Clip for Grenade Adapter

Regarding the Retention Clips, I found what I believe is a reference on the clips in the FM 23-30/Feb 44.

 

On page 67 it says "Launcher Position Clip" is mention as used on Launcher M1 and M2.

Launcher M7 and M8 is not mentioned(?) so my question goes if these clips were used on the M7 and M8 Grenade Launchers as well....

They were not needed on the M7 or M8 launchers because they had a retainer spring as part of the design. The M1 and M2 launcher had no retainer springs so the clips were necessary to keep the grenade from sliding freely past the desired position on the launcher.

BTW, I will receive two of these Clips shortly. Bought in err, as they were supposed to have been used on the M7 and M8 Grenade Launchers.

I have no use for them now so they are up for sale.
