M2 A1 anti-personnel mine

I got this out of a barn in Colorado about 3 years ago. I hope the photos are okay I have done this on the phone and this is the first time I've done this. It looks like the base plate is cracked and that is possibly why it became a practice mine

That is a neat find.   You certainly don't see those every day.

Thank you very much that is a very cool schematic. Unfortunately the projectile is stuck inside the tube I tried everything I could think of to get it out I have soaked this thing in WD-40 I have soaked it in other rust treatments. The neat thing when I first got it you could not see the white inert on the warhead I think it was c l r that got the rust off to where I could see that.

I'm not sure if this is an option, but after letting it soak a bit, you could try using compressed air injected through the fuse and some gentle taps might get it out of there. I've placed items carefully and protected in a vise just right and I've used compressed air injected into small openings and have had some descent success to get projectiles out. Just be careful because sometimes they can come out with force. I usually put a pile of rags or something in front of the projectile. However, the crack in your base may prevent much pressure from building. 

Good luck. I'd love to see what that looks like and if there are any 60mm mortar markings on it!

It is interesting that my examples of this type of pyro & explosive ordnance are a bit different. 

The m48 Trip Wire marked examples have the large base as above but the M2A1 Antipersonnel Mine examples have no base.

There are several differences in the base construction to include a stamped sheet metal version.

Your projectile should be threaded on the end like mine. Yours appears to be filled with dirt? Clean it out and screw in an appropriate size bolt and see if you can get a pull on it that way.

I just checked and mine looks like it was filled in with metal
