Officer cap eagle identification needed

Recommended Posts

The eagle is a Federal pattern eagle that was common in the M1889 officer's visors. You'll find variations of the embroidery work, which makes these fun to collect. These can also be found in some of the early M1902 visors as well (I have one in my collection - pic attached). Many state units copied the Federal pattern so this isn't uncommon to find. With the partial images you posted, it looks like the M1889 style visor because of the corded chin strap.

Can anyone help me with an id on the eagle?

The cap has Rhode Island buttons and a gold chin cord.

I would love to see some photos of the whole hat if possible? 😄
