rd12 Posted January 2, 2018 Share #1701 Posted January 2, 2018 This picture was posted in the uniforms section, but it is worth adding here as well. Very interesting CIB on this field jacket. Rather than the excess fabric being folded under it is just sewn on giving a unique appearance. Cobra 6 Actual Posted January 5, 2018 Share #1702 Posted January 5, 2018 Here is a miniature (1.5 inches) Sterling Silver CIB with a unique rendition of the 1795 Springfield Musket: I have not cleaned it yet; there is some blue crud on the wreath just above the blue rectangle. Cobra 6 Actual Posted January 6, 2018 Share #1704 Posted January 6, 2018 Saw this on eBay recently, a reproduction bullion CIB: Cost with shipping was ~$18. The bullion work is nicely done, but the blue cloth background is the wrong shade. Although the seller clearly identified this as a reproduction, I guess its only a matter of time before someone tries to sell one of these as authentic. Buyer beware, guys. Cobra 6 Actual Posted January 6, 2018 Share #1705 Posted January 6, 2018 OK, obviously I am fooling with my collection today. Here is a Spearheader Badge of the 2nd Infantry Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, as awarded in Korea for combat service. During the Korean War this unit served as part of the 2nd Infantry Division. The badge was apparently awarded by the 2/38 and worn in place of the CIB. Size is a bit over 3 inches wide and a bit over 1 inch tall. The spear and the skull are superimposed over the dark blue enamel and give the badge a three dimensional effect. This is a very high quality badge, made by N.B.I. Company of Japan and hallmarked to that company. Doyler had three of these a few years ago that he posted on this Forum. Perhaps he would like to add to my comments. Cobra 6 Actual Posted January 9, 2018 Share #1722 Posted January 9, 2018 OK, this is different, made in China 2nd Award CIB: Does not appear to be made to fool the unwary, but why make it anyway? The cost was actually comparable to that for buying a made in America one. Go figure. The design is thicker, especially the wreath. Plus the reverse has a black filmy coating to it.
