Cobra 6 Actual

Sure, several different styles, Bill. Although this German-made one isn't a pinback I like it due to its 3-D musket and that dark blue enamel:

As you know "Infantry Blue" is actually several shades lighter. Here's the clutch back reverse:

Cobra 6 Actual

I'm going to be off of this Forum for awhile, but wanted to post photos of this tough to find Afghanistan-made CIB:

The blue stone is hand cut and fitted lapis lazuli, while the rest is coin silver. Here's the reverse:

Yes, it's not always about the fastner that tell's the mfg. The muskets on some are very European looking.

Here is a bullion example named to a trooper that served in combat during the last 6 weeks of the war with the 101st. When the war ended, he was transferred to the 508th. He returned from Germany in the summer of 1946. I believe it is German made

Recent acquisition of a full size Sterling Silver 4th Award CIB:

Please excuse the minor tarnish and that speck of dirt above the muzzle ... haven't cleaned it yet.

Cobra 6 Actual

Yep, rd12: it included the following Sterling Silver badges: EIB, 1st Award CIB (that turned out to be a WWII one), 2nd Award CIB, 3rd Award CIB, 4th Award CIB (the one pictured above) plus cloth patches for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th Award CIB's. Still very pricy, but I am 71 years old so I subscribe to the "buy once, cry once" mantra. (But, yeah, I'm still sniffling a bit.)

And, firefighter, it has "Balfour" and "Sterling" hallmarks.

Very nice. Great addition.

BILL THE PATCH

Here are a few more that I picked up. I nabbed them pretty cheap, 2nd award is marked Sterling and Simon made. The other I'd a Japanese made, an early meyer with separate musket, and the last is a nice WW2 standard cib.post-11207-0-50211400-1512166729_thumb.jpg

  • 2 weeks later...

There's been some nice CIBs posted here lately, here are a few I've picked up recently. Two Italian and one South Vietnamese.

All choice examples. Do you mind sharing the backs?

Any ideas on this version?

US made I believe. Here is a similar version in color. I think these were made from the same pattern, they have very distinct wreaths. I had not seen these style subdued before, only in color.
