Hello "craig-pickrall"

I think your CIB 4th award is no original, it looks

like the stars added later.

What are the other usmf-member thinking about this item?

Here is some information.

Army Regulation AR 672-5-2 Oktober 1961

and

MIL-DTL-3628/24H, 15 November 1996

Here is the Meyer CIB I received in a small grouping from a guy who served with the IOWA State Guard. It's a clutchback with the shorter pins. What is interesting is it has an attached rifle. Kim

Here's a nice CIB that belonged to a Hawaii veteran from the 442nd Regimental Combat Team from WW2, Japanese-Americans.

Here is a CIB handembroidered.

Jim,

Looking at your CIB and the marks on the back makes me think that there was a maker's mark that someone has ground off.

It is probably a post-WWII marking but the seller wanted to sell it as a WWII example.

Allan

I would say it is more likely it was scratched to be tested to be sure it was sterling

I have a CIB that is marked sterling and is a pinback made of at least three parts.I want to post my photos but my pictures are to large. Please help!!! I think this one is unique to say the least.

I would like to show you folks and discuss this badge.

Thank you

My grandfather has a two piece CIB, with the wreath attaching to the musket via its pins. Did they issue these this way, or was the only way to obtain this by first getting the EIB and then earning the wreath?

O.K., after going through every post on this 38 page thread, I still have not answered my questions. Got close a couple of times, but no cigar.

Attached are pics from my collection of full size and miniature size CIB's.

First questions--both of the wreaths have acorns on them. Most CIB's shown on this thread do not have the acorns. The post #533 showed a drawing from a reg dated 1945 of the CIB with the acorns on the wreath. Was there a certain window of time that the wreaths had acorns on them? If so, when?

Next, the musket on the full size CIB is attached. Is this typical only of GEMSCO or did others do it also?

Lastly, do these look legit?

38 pages, but what a great resource!! Thanks and Merry Christmas, Al Hirschler in Dallas.
