Those are the so called "prototype" CAB. They were made by Vanguard either as proposals or as what they thought the CAB's were going to look like. The only real difference is the size of the wreath.

A little note about the CAB. Being in the Infantry and having been awarded the CIB myself, when the CAB came out alot of people I work with were upset about it, to include me at first. I have now come to my senses and dont see an issue with it but alot of people still do. The CAB is commonly refered to around here as the Crying A*s B***h award.

Found these this weekend at a local Antique Show. My dealer friend told me that the "Big Time" dealers came thru Friday Morning as usual, I asked him if these were here on Friday?

"Nope, I just brought them in today/Saturday"?

Goes to show you the Early Bird DOESNT always get the Worm.!!!!

Price for these? $20.00

Enjoy

FRENCH BULLION CIB

This is from one man's estate. The CIB is French made bullion with snaps.

I can get better images if anyone wants them.

Here is a collection of CIBs that belonged to Raymond Samuelson. He served with the 79th Infantry Division and later the 1st Infantry Division. The metal badge is marked sterling and has the concave back, short pins, and sterling clutches. Let me know if interested in seeing the backs of any of the pieces.

As some of you may recall, this man wrote extensively during his time in the service and I have all the letters between him and his wife. In one letter he tells the wife that there is a shortage of the metal (sterling) CIBs and that he was wearing the embroidered ones on his uniforms. It may be in the same letter, but not certain, that he also says he borrowed a metal CIB from a friend to put on his "Ike" jacket when he went into town on a pass. It was showier!

Ricardo,

Not saying it hasn't happened, but I've never seen one of these on a uniform.

The article pretty much says what I've been told about them.

CNY Militaria

Incidentally, the winner of that uniform took the badge off and sold the uniform.

Most originals I've seen have led me to believe they were Asian (usually Japanese) made and of Korean War vintage.

Many you see were made for the collector market in the 1960's/1970's. They tend to have a very flat opaque enamel work and the silver is very shiny.
