ken1967 Posted January 25, 2007 Share #126 Posted January 25, 2007 Thanks Steve. I appreciate your comments and completely understand your hesitation. I've had an extremely difficult time identifying cloth CIB to a period. While they are beautiful pieces and I've enjoyed collecting them, I am always concerned about not knowing when they really were made. I was really leaning the same direction as you with post-war or 50's vintage.
Allan H. Posted January 25, 2007 Share #127 Posted January 25, 2007 I got one of these in a group of WWII cloth insignia- all glued into a scrapbook. The book also had news clippings dating from 43 to 46. I am quite sure they can date back to WWII. Allan

craig_pickrall Posted January 26, 2007 Share #132 Posted January 26, 2007 Darrell, glad to see you finally got a CIB. It looks good. Those clutches are old, that design dates to about 1937, I think. They make for nice replacements. What is the length of the pin?

They make for nice replacements. What is the length of the pin? Thanks. I'm pleasantly surprised the clutches are old The Pins are tough to measure, but the best estimate (based on my calipers) is approximately 6.1mm. Length of badge is 76.6mm. craig_pickrall Posted January 27, 2007 Share #135 Posted January 27, 2007 6.1MM is good. That is the short pin version so it should be WW2 era.
Yankee John Posted January 27, 2007 Share #136 Posted January 27, 2007 Darrel- Very nice CIB! I am sure that yours is made by the same maker as the last one that I posted earlier; Makers mark in the same location, and the legs of the letters T, I, and N just a little bit shorter on the bottom than the other letters. The leaves have the same level of detail too. Congrats! John

Jim Baker Posted January 28, 2007 Share #138 Posted January 28, 2007 Well, after only a few months I think I'm hooked. All WWII era and all sterling silver with variations on attachments. Except the minis, they are pin back and unmarked. Sorry about the flash. They are shiny.
Darrell Posted January 28, 2007 Share #139 Posted January 28, 2007 Very nice Jim. I assume the bottom one is a 2 piece?
Jim Baker Posted January 28, 2007 Share #140 Posted January 28, 2007 Darrell, This one is a two piece. The bottom one is a standard Expert Infantry Badge.
