swag Posted November 21, 2022 Share #1 Posted November 21, 2022 The family of Orson Bennet has loaned his Medal of Honor to a local museum. It'll be going on display soon. After the local museum announces the medal being on display I'll release the name of it here. It's interesting that a fob was added to the reverse, but it obviously obscures the inscription. atb Posted November 24, 2022 Share #4 Posted November 24, 2022 Yes, it looks like that to me as well. I recall the original finish on these was a dull bronze color, similar to WW1 collar disks.
VMI88 Posted November 24, 2022 Share #5 Posted November 24, 2022 I think the fob is a GAR post badge in the shape of a canteen. There was a popular poem called "We Drank From the Same Canteen", so canteens were a popular motif in reunion / veteran souvenirs.
