Tonomachi Posted November 17, 2022 Share #1 Posted November 17, 2022 I picked this up recently and it is the first USMC Recon type patch that I have come across with "straw" like fibers intertwined along the back for I'm guessing stiffness. I've heard these referred to as "Thai Grass" patches so the assumption is that they were produced in Thailand but according to Forum Administrator Bob Chatt of Vintage Productions they were also produced in the Philippines during the Vietnam War. I have come across UDT-11, UDT-12 and UDT-13 patches made the same way. I don't know if this patch is genuine or if someone has decided to start making these again who knows. River Patrol Posted December 22, 2022 Share #4 Posted December 22, 2022 So the question would be, Are the patches manufactured during the war with the grass back support material wartime worn? Did someone produce these in the late 70s to sell to collectors? Is the backing material still being used today?
