USMC_COLLECTOR Posted November 8, 2022 Share #10 Posted November 8, 2022 Ok. Then you will want Double buckle boots probably for a repro. Epicmiliraia has cheaper boots that are pretty decent. I don't personally own a pair, but many people I know do and they like them.
PattonM47 Posted November 8, 2022 Author Share #11 Posted November 8, 2022 thanks! did they use the leggings things with those?
USMC_COLLECTOR Posted November 8, 2022 Share #12 Posted November 8, 2022 No leggings worn at all in Korea really (Only by marines since they had low boots). The two buckles served as the leggings with the boots.

USMC_COLLECTOR Posted November 8, 2022 Share #14 Posted November 8, 2022 Example of Marines boarding transport with their leggings Example of the M48's in use. They were very similar to paratrooper boots And M43's in use
PattonM47 Posted November 8, 2022 Author Share #15 Posted November 8, 2022 so M48s were only used by Marines?
USMC_COLLECTOR Posted November 8, 2022 Share #16 Posted November 8, 2022 So an interesting topic, I think the Army also used these flaks for a time with marines. M48's were used predominantly by the army, but like most things in the supply chain, marines stole some stuff. The guy behind him actually has M43's on. I think that photo was taken while training a foregin army.
PattonM47 Posted November 8, 2022 Author Share #17 Posted November 8, 2022 what's the difference between WW2 paratrooper boots and M48s?
USMC_COLLECTOR Posted November 8, 2022 Share #18 Posted November 8, 2022 The difference in M48 and Paratrooper boots are no ankle reinforcement, paratrooper boots have this. Also no stamped holes in the toe cap, and it had a full rubber sole, not just the halves like the paratrooper ones. Hope this helps a little bit more
USMC_COLLECTOR Posted November 8, 2022 Share #19 Posted November 8, 2022 Found this as well on the forum, Jump boots: 12 eyelets regardless of size M1948 boots: 11 eyelets regardless of size

doyler Posted November 9, 2022 Share #21 Posted November 9, 2022 Jump boots have the half sole and beveled heels as well but you can see them with regular heels when replaced/repaired.

USMC_COLLECTOR Posted November 9, 2022 Share #23 Posted November 9, 2022 Yes. You are going to want to apply layer after layer of dubbing. Then they will get smooth like you see there. 11 hours ago, PattonM47 said: is there a way I can give them that russet look that I have seen on later M43s?
