Juadalcanal Posted November 7, 2022 Share #1 Posted November 7, 2022 Always love to see a nice Pacific Theater uniform or group to an Army vet, and I would very much like to see what all of you have!! One of my favorite uniforms in fact would have to be this 96th uniform to a medical officer who was on Leyte and Okinawa who narrowly survived being killed by a Japanese plane (believe it was a kamikaze) crashing down on his campsite on Okinawa! CavalryCombatant Posted November 7, 2022 Share #2 Posted November 7, 2022 Here’s my favorite one! Probably not my rarest, or most expensive, but it’s just got a certain charm that never seems to get old. The tunic, shirt and pants belonged to Tech 5. Elmer Bohn, who did four campaigns with the First Cavalry division’s medical unit. I wish I knew more about what he did over there, but information is sparse. T1gertank519 Posted November 11, 2022 Share #6 Posted November 11, 2022 T/5 Don Whitmeyer Svc Co, 130th IR, 33 ID. Fought in the Philippines and served occupation in Japan. Sadly Don was killed in a car crash at 22 years old, only about a year after coming home from the Pacific. The uniform came from eBay, and the flag was a gift from his family when I reached out. Trevor M. Larson Posted November 12, 2022 Share #8 Posted November 12, 2022 I don’t wanna drown the thread, I’ll just show my PTO airborne guys (most of them have more) all from The 511th PIR.

Perhaps he was transferred from the 75th to another division after WWII ended?
postmanusnac Posted November 29, 2022 Share #13 Posted November 29, 2022 The other side is the 66th ID, but don't know what regiment he went to though to go home. He was wounded January 16, 1945 in Belgium with Co G, 289th Infantry.
militbuff Posted November 29, 2022 Share #14 Posted November 29, 2022 That must have been one long war for that private! Any idea how old he was? He must have been in over 4 years.

Specifically the double theater vet but ESPECIALLY the 38th ID uniform if that’s named? It’s my favorite division, I’m highly interested. Thank you so much for sharing these amazing uniforms. Really good ones!

manayunkman Posted November 29, 2022 Share #19 Posted November 29, 2022 The only one I have but it’s not identified. The photo came with it and appears to represent his earlier military career. The wing is not his.

36thIDAlex Posted November 30, 2022 Share #21 Posted November 30, 2022 For an ETO army collector I’ve actually gathered a few nice PTO pieces although most come from vets who had double theater service. FSSF was one of the Kiska guys, including the winter m41 they wore for that campaign, 1st ID was in the Aleutians with the 53rd Infantry Regiment until late 1943 when he graduated OCS, 103rd ID started out with a coastal artillery unit in Alaska (I can’t recall at the moment), and the photographer still working on an ID for
jguy1986 Posted December 8, 2022 Share #22 Posted December 8, 2022 Wanted to get this one in while it was still the anniversary… 81 years ago this man was at Hickam Field with the 58th BS during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
