This is a 1917-1918 dated Marine Dress uniform. Question is with the Overseas chevrons. Them being piped/ bordered in red have any significance or meaning or was it just the way this Marine wanted his uniform to look?

I dont think an y special meaning. While I have never seen this specific style, I have seen several variations, including gold bullion on scarlet. Pretty cool looking. Kevin
