TheGoose Posted November 1, 2022 Share #1 Posted November 1, 2022 I noticed there are not too many posts in the helmet section anymore, and when someone does post, it is usually a warning about a scam helmet on eBay. I figured I'd liven up the forum a bit with an exciting recent purchase. Here’s a nice field applied camo I just picked up from a fellow forum member. It looks like the camo was initially desert tan, which was then painted over. Laundry number K3914 is scratched in the shell twice and written on the chinstrap twice. I am still doing research using the laundry number and estate it came from.

Persian Gulf Command Posted November 1, 2022 Share #5 Posted November 1, 2022 Great find! This is good exemplar for anyone looking to obtain a camo helmet. The paint should be subdued due to the effects of weathering in the field and them 3/4 of a century of oxidation and patina acquired by the oils and pigments of the paint. BTW, never clean it! Thanks! It’s been a “fun” journey trying to track a period camo down. I can assure you it will remain untouched.
