Pep Posted November 1, 2022 Share #4 Posted November 1, 2022 Could be a Navy Commander. Three broad strips are for that rank and the silver oak leaf. The rusted hanger ring is on the three strip side, so when hung the commander could grab his helmet as that mark would easily be seen. Any way my guess to it. Pep Posted November 1, 2022 Share #6 Posted November 1, 2022 Many Navy lids are green. Who can say how a helmet gets to where it is found...
Allan H. Posted November 1, 2022 Share #7 Posted November 1, 2022 I've never seen any naval officer ranks represented with diagonal stripes. They are always horizontal. If this were navy, I would have expected the bars and a star on the front rather than an olc. My bet is the owner commanded the 3rd Battalion of whatever unit. shifty5580 Posted November 1, 2022 Author Share #8 Posted November 1, 2022 Thanks for your answer. In the field, like in Belgium, we found some helmets in village, where some units were and fought. It's sometimes easy to identified the owner and the division... I Ve found some helmets in rochefort with name, laundry,... where the 84th was, and all are identified to the 84th This helmet was found in center of Belgium. The 3rd battalion is a good idea...we just need to find the unit. Thanks a lot for your help Bertrand
