Vertical stripes on the back of Vietnam Era M1 shell?

On the back of this Ingersoll M1 shell, there is a painted-over vertical stripe. I knew that WW2 helmets had these, but I'm not so sure about Vietnam. What do you guys think?

Already answered your question W, but figured I’d chime in here if anyone else has the same question with one of their M1s.

 

Lt. Bars are (standardly) raised when applied, whereas follow-me stripes are more elongated and extend to the bottom of the helmet. The latter is what you seem to have.
