mbec Posted October 24, 2022 Share #1 Posted October 24, 2022 I hope it's okay to put this here, if not please move it where it should go. these items are all from the 128th field artillery regiment. The flag was in the basement of a property my dad used to rent out. The canteen from battery A was purchased off craigslist. and the notebooks of Capt. Leon R. Sandford and Sergeant P.C. Robertson were given to me by a friend who found them in a house cleanout. The canteen looks as if it were wire brushed at some time. It is an ACA 1918.The cover is a Brauer Bros. inc. Dated 1917 Battery A is stenciled on it and on the cap. The note books are interesting as the Captain made notes and has some drawings in it. He was apparently wounded by gas on Oct. 2 1918 at Charpentry. The sergeants notebook has a play by play of him getting orders to move to a new position and him writing down all that he sees along the way. He has some pretty graphic descriptions of the carnage he has to pass through. his book says April on it but inside it starts on Sept.23rd. Sorry this is so long but I thought it kind of interesting how things from the same regiment just sort of ended up in the same place after all these years Mark
