Thought you guys might find this interesting.

No idea on the story behind this one.  It was parked in front of a surplus store that looks like it's been out of business for a long time.

I don't know my half-tracks well enough to know if this is an M2 or M3.  I've also never seen a half track with a hard cover, and I don't know if this was something the Army would have put on there or if it was added after the vehicle was surplused out.

That is cool.  It looks like it may have missed a PMCS or three.

Wonder if the engine is still in it.

Beautiful M2 even in this state. My guess is they welded a cover on it up to keep it from being sat in, pawed all over, and have things walk off. As you can see from all the missing bits on the exterior if it's not welded down it will grow legs. 100% restorable.

Or to keep the occupants from being abducted and probed, I guess that gets old VERY quickly 😆

It looks like there's no engine in it, but very restorable indeed and it seems the armor is all there and original... Maybe the gas station opposite knows who the owner is?

That track has been there a very long time. It was sitting in that same spot in the mid 90's. Spent plenty of time in that store when I lived in the panhandle. There was a decent gun store across the street too.

The place is a Discount Store and is listed as a 'Thrift & Consignment Store' Long past being a surplus store although from reviews it does have some military stuff in there.
