Gbtr6 Posted October 11, 2022 Share #1 Posted October 11, 2022 Does the Civil War Medal of Honor look the same as current ones? Anyone have a picture. I believe I have one I got from my great aunt years ago for a relative that served in the Civil war. Don't have a ribbon, only the large star part of the medal. Blacksmith Posted October 11, 2022 Share #2 Posted October 11, 2022 It would be great if it was a MOH. It may be a GAR Medal. Does it look like this?

Gbtr6 Posted October 11, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted October 11, 2022 Thank you for the reply. I don't recall as I haven't seen it in a while. I'll bet it's the first, the GAR. What does that stand for? It doesn't have the ribbon or accoutrement. Just the star part. But, it seemed to have the holes for the upper part where they are on the MOH. Gbtr6 Posted October 11, 2022 Author Share #6 Posted October 11, 2022 I have to assume that's what it was. I wish I knew where it was, and the name of the relative that it belonged to. I got it so long ago as a kid. Probably lost. I had a German WW2 helmet, and a German sword. It wasn't very rare or valuable I don't think. It was something of a forest service sword. Wish I could remember. Perry
