watched both videos...some very interesting gear...thanks for posting it

The vest ...I have not seen before, but looks like something a door gunner, crew chief,  loadmaster, flight engineer might wear while standing in an open doorway....versus a strapped in pilot....just my 2 cents

I liked the automatic lap belt in the second video...and the B-2 cap with o2 mask snaps...

Looks like a SRU-32 armor/survival vest.  Those are pretty rare and go for big dollars when they come up for sale.  Seems like the carrier faded funny over the years.

mentioned briefly in this thread

Yeah Craig Pickralls just sold on ebay not that long ago for a big price if I recall correct.  Interesting to see his had a full mesh back and the one in the OP vid has like a nylon panel added.

Also to note, I think that topic had my first ever post on the USMF haha.

Found article on line but in French. But could make out C-130 and a few other airframes likely to have used/tested the vest

being a MAC/AMC town, I’m surprised one hasn’t turned up locally

Dover tails  flew a lot of missions in SE Asia

interesting

I guess if this one is the actual Fighter/Attack vests its not the same as the SRU-32/P but they are similar.  Apparently the 32P is donned over the head and the Fighter/Attach vest isnt.  Found this in a Army TM/Air Force TO:

FIGHTER/ATTACK FRAGMENTATION VEST.

This design, shown in figure 3-4, is under

development for aircrew flying fighter, attack and

observation aircraft with ejection seats whose cockpit environment does not

permit heavier or more bulky armor to be worn.

This is from the description of the video: The original owner, who had served in the USAAF during WWII, later started a consulting firm designing & testing helmets & body armor for both military & civilian usage. IMHO, the vest is a prototype that never made it into the military system for one reason or another.  Likely it is a one off item.

Got a link to that past auction/sale?

I had bought 4 of these at an auction of the guy who helped develop these. Very cool and a few different designs. Even a prototype. I may still have the original design paperwork somewhere that came with one. Along with samples of materials
