This piece recently came my way. It’s a P38 made by Walther very late in WWII. It came with a capture paper made out to Staff Sergeant James B. Grimes of the 3448th Ordnance Medium Automotive Maintenance Company. According to NARA Grimes was inducted at Philadelphia in 1941 but I haven’t been able to come up with any other info on him. Lt. Frederic F. Kinzer didn’t show up in the officer’s lists of 1944-45 but I did come across a pic of a gravesite with a bronze plaque that read “Frederic F. Kinzer Captain US Army WWII”. Well any way here are some pics of the pistol and certificate.
