27Division18 Posted September 29, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 29, 2022 Is this airborne sweetheart pin from WW2?
triplecanopy Posted September 29, 2022 Share #2 Posted September 29, 2022 Interesting combination. I would say definitely it is a sweetheart pin. What is unusual are the Army Jump wings with an AIR FORCE patched heart - but it could be Army Air Corps. The US AIR FORCE became a separate service in 1947 so this might be WWII or slightly post war. I don't know why the jump wings since one would think flight wings would be more appropriate for the Air Force. The jump wings are thinly stamped but look regulation size. I would really like to read what others have to say about this piece.
27Division18 Posted September 29, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted September 29, 2022 It is a smallish piece (see pic). Though it says "Air Force" underneath is the "U.S. Army" (USA) logo, so could be referring to the army air forces before it became the USAF after the war? 27Division18 Posted September 29, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted September 29, 2022 Could it be for a troop carrier outfit?
