usmcdoc67 Posted October 10, 2022 Author Share #6 Posted October 10, 2022 UPDATE: After further review, the "X" gun isn't a Colt. Since it was inspected by Major Edmund E. Chapman, it's a Remington-UMC frame. He was the inspection officer from August 1918 to June 1919. The question now is, how did a R-UMC frame end up at Augusta Armory in 1953 to be reissued as a "X" prefix serial number??

usmcdoc67 Posted October 14, 2022 Author Share #8 Posted October 14, 2022 I was able to locate the shipping records for the Ithaca 1911A1 Lend/Lease. Was shipped Oct. 21, 1944 to War Shipping Administrator-c/o British Ministry of War Transport Pier 97 North River New York-New York, N.Y.. It was 1 of 1,250 sent to the British on that date.
