I have this shell I think it's WW1, it measures 9 1/2 tall with a three inch base. Thanks in advance

With out the boat-tail base, it is a very good candidate for WW1.  Are there any markings on the fuze or projectile base?  These are usually marked.

Thanks for the reply, no markings that I see. Just that small cross shown in picture.

Looks like a standard WW1 75mm (M1907) artillery round with adjustable fuse....Bodes

Appears to be a british 13-pounder shell. If you are located in the US, it was probably made here and just never made it to the UK.

Bill I agree with Bodes. Here's mine. yours was never fired, mine was with the muzzle rings cut into the bottom. Measurements the same... WW1 US 75mm

I am fairly positive that this is actually a shell for the 3-inch M1902 field gun.

Hello guys,

This is an American contract 13 pounder produced for the British Army in ww1. We adapted our model 1907 fuze for ease of production to have larger threaded base to fit british shells, renaming it the no 85 in british service. Very nice example!
