D_Conrad Posted September 7, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2022 I recently acquired a Gernam P38 that was captured by a friend's father while serving in Vietnam. I was told he took the firearm off a dispatched enemy soldier and mailed it home one piece at a time. The weapon is a Russian capture example that has been force matched. All internals match the slide. The slide is the only non matching piece.

Paul70 Posted October 28, 2022 Share #6 Posted October 28, 2022 Awesome pistol. How do you know it was a Russian capture? After Germany surrendered, the allies dumped a lot of German weapons into Vietnam to fight the Japanese. I think it was called "Operation Tossed Salad." Could be the US dropped it to the VC. Either way very cool piece.
D_Conrad Posted October 28, 2022 Author Share #7 Posted October 28, 2022 The force matching on the slide and the additional "X" on the slide makes it a Russian capture. They X marked all the weapons they captured and reworked. Most are force matched as well.
