BigJohn#3RD Posted September 5, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 5, 2022 What is the name of the ribbon to the right? I know I have seen the ribbon before but can not find it identified on line. I believe it was awarded to American's who volunteered to drive ambulances in France as part of the American Field Service. Thanks John

Thanks, the uniform that it is on is attributed to a WWI Doughboy killed in the First World War and was too young to have served in SPANAM. That said it would not be the first time a soldier bought the wrong ribbon, because he did serve on the Mexican Border in 1916. USMCR79 Posted September 5, 2022 Share #7 Posted September 5, 2022 I read in a 1995 Gleim Auction that this was also a commercial purchase (unofficial) Mexican Border Ribbon too. Bill
BigJohn#3RD Posted September 5, 2022 Author Share #8 Posted September 5, 2022 Well that does make sense to the uniform. I posted the uniform and the story of it on post 506. Again Thanks for the information. Have a Great Labor Day! John
Croix de Guerre Posted January 14, 2023 Share #9 Posted January 14, 2023 The other ribbon, the green and red is for the French Croix de Guerre. Attached is an example of the Croix de Guerre and the American Field Service medal and ribbon.
