The fenders are now finished along with some small treadplate pieces on top.  The Walkaround says these plates were put there to help mechanics from slipping on the fenders when doing engine work.  I can't image them really doing any good since they are so small.  But that's the way they were done.  The top hood pieces have been done and work is now on the side pieces of the hood.  The side louver vents will be made of plastic quarter round stock.

HI, Kat.  Renshape is a great material to work with.  I was fortunate to get a block of it a while back and at a really good price.  Once it is sealed it paints up just like plastic.  Even unsealed, it looks ok for OD.  If you make a mistake it can be corrected by gluing on scrap piece with CA.  Bond is solid so sanding away the excess is easy.

A little update on progress.   The windshield is done and the hood sides have been roughed in.  The wire frame in the back of the cab is for the soft top.109.JPG.43f1a28e11b99efc8e88463b32c2e087.JPG113.JPG.183d99eec1e1655c52b33c9bd1e2098c.JPG

A little OD paint and some detailing of the fenders is done.  The cab is in primer and waiting for a final fit of the hood sections.  The winch is in place and is wound with mylar coated wire for the cable.  The cable end will have a chain and hook.

Here's a look at some paint.  I began working on the cab interior.  The dashboard is shaped and ready for some details.  This morning I made up the steering wheel with 4 brass rod spokes.  The solid cab version of this truck had a Diamond T logo in the horn button.  The open cab one that I'm modeling has a horn button with Ross on it.  Ross does steering for large trucks.  So I'll make a up a tiny decal with the Ross script.131.JPG.1f15c951a9f854365720353d70d59ebe.JPG134.JPG.979f4d6e5be86a27134b669d82564cf4.JPG135.JPG.273b57b3aa440c5f6a0c994e625d3abe.JPG

Very nice, thanks for sharing these pictures! How many hours did you spend for building the chassis so far?

Wow, you sir are an ARTIST, not a modeler!  Absolutely love to see your work with all the scratch build parts and details that you put into these "mini's" but like Lars said early on in the thread, it looks like the engine should run!  Stunning and I love to see your detail and work in progress.

Yes.  The hood does open.  I'll update the photos in a bit so you can see the interior of it.  Working on the cab interior right now.  Levers and pedals in the works.

As promised, here is the model with the hood open.

And some additional images of the cab interior.  I still have the 4 levers and hand brake to go between the seats, a fire extinguisher and a storage box next to the driver's seat before I can call the cab done.137.JPG.d77482e3ba740e52b74a5130eb2346cf.JPG138.JPG.0441c9a960fcf9e2a0e9d2e6c8156f69.JPG

Are you SURE this baby doesn't run?  It looks amazing/fantastic and all the other superlatives I could think of.  Again, not just a model at this point, but a work of art!  Outstanding!

Got the hand brake, transfer case lever and power takeoff levers done and installed.  I found a couple of M-1 rifles in the stash and painted them up.  The scabbards are made of plastic strip stock.  The slings are brown paper and the clips are brass wire.  They add a nice touch to the inside of the cab.  The cab, and fenders are now permanently mounted to the frame.  The carbon tet extinguisher that is mounted on the side of the cab next to the driver seat is done but needs painting and the bracket has to be made.  That will be next along with the two brackets that hold the windshield in place.

Best I can do for now, Kat.  Will try and take a better photo for clarity.   I know most were red but the brass sort of sets it off for a change of pace. 297410772_156(2).JPG.292f4c05a639f3162b29a889e70e8a97.JPG
