HUD69 Posted August 31, 2022 #1 Posted August 31, 2022 Today I received an Altimeter, looking rather normal, besides the plate on the back. As can be seen, it is an AN5760-4B, but with Japanese characters on the data plate and made by TKK? Date is 1966, so post war. Does anyone have more information on this type of altimeter? Thanks! Ron

phantomfixer Posted September 13, 2022 #4 Posted September 13, 2022 to me, the script seems to be Korean and Japanese...and that was just comparing the different scripts found online... having said that, with the AN number possibly a US airframe used and overhauled by one of our Allies...1950s?
hink441 Posted September 14, 2022 #5 Posted September 14, 2022 Probably used in a licensed built American aircraft used by the Japanese Self Defense Force like the P-2 Neptune patrol aircraft.
Obviousman Posted September 15, 2022 #6 Posted September 15, 2022 Since the altimeter was made in 1966, and I agree the script looks Korean, I figure it might be from an F-5A or possibly an F-4D (probably a little too late).
HUD69 Posted September 16, 2022 Author #7 Posted September 16, 2022 Great, I did not think of that possibility! Gives me a direction to look further. Thanks! Ron
Obviousman Posted September 16, 2022 #8 Posted September 16, 2022 I don't know how things work with non-English speaking countries; would they put a special plate with Korean script on the altimeter for an F-5A that they are delivering, or could it be that certain parts are made locally under a production agreement?
