strawberry 9 Posted August 23, 2022 Share #2 Posted August 23, 2022 Awesome! I'm working on an Alamo diorama myself. Just doing the figures right now. What brand are your Mexican soldiers?

Proud Kraut Posted August 24, 2022 Share #4 Posted August 24, 2022 As I have posted at the WMF before: I love the dynamic and 'special effects' (gunsmoke, explosions) of this dio. Outstanding work, thank you very much for sharing it here as well!

ArtyScout Posted August 27, 2022 Share #7 Posted August 27, 2022 Very nicely done. A lot of action and the figures and scene are very Alamo-like. Thank you for a job well done. Semper Fi. Manny

I love your response, but if the Americans had won that battle, then you would never hear the term; that was their Alamo, like the Marines on Wake Island in WWII or the fighters during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising during WWII, etc. Besides it was 4,000 to 185 and the Alamo defenders gave a good account of themselves. Anyway, we'd probably be saying; that was their Masada or their Thermopylae instead. Just spit balling here. Semper Fi. Manny

Gabbions, barrels and cannons are 3d prints . I picked up this 54mm diorama from FaceBook marketplace. It also has the BLUE cannon carriage. This diorama was made by the Franklin Mint in 1980. The base---which is almost solid pewter---is 7.0 X 5.5 INch and heavy. Each figure has its own base and can be removed as they were shipped on a monthly basis. I bought it because of the artillery display and discovered the two infantry in front are Kentucky militia. I just learned that one of my ancestors served 9 months in the Kentucky Militia in 1812-1813. It is titled "Battle of New Orleans". The cannon is a French 6.5-inch Howitzer. The figures include three(3) Corps of Artillery, officer, sergeant/gunner and private, a Louisiana militia with ammo, a pirate seaman from Lafitte's men and the two(2) Kentucky militia, officer(standing) and private. I may post details of this diorama in a separate post. Later.
